Coast/Beach
There are 5 beaches in Alcossebre. All beaches are blue flagged and offer watersports, volleyball, children's play areas and in high season some areas of the beaches have trampolines. All provide shower facilities. Our favourite is Las Fuentas which is a small bay, the sea shelves out gently and there are a few types of boats for hire. There is a small good tapas bar where you can sit for a cold jug of sangria and watch the children exploring the rock pools! Perfect.
Golf
Two excellent 18 hole golf courses:
- Mediterraneo, near Castellon is approx. 45 mins. away and is the home course of Sergio Garcia.
- Panoramica, near Vinaros is approx. 40 mins. away. This course was designed by Bernhard Langher.
- Both courses are excellent value for money.
Skiing
Approximately 90 minutes drive to Spanish ski resort at Valdinares.
How to get there
Valencia and Reus airport are 1 hour's drive, cheap flights are available with many budget airlines inc Ryanair and Jet2. Barcelona airport is 2 hours. Car hire is recommended for the places that are of interest to visit and for the ease of reaching the 2 airports servicing the area. The motorways are excellent, and although they are tolled it works to the advantage of the holidaymaker, as locals do not use them and they are very quiet. There are also 'A' roads but these tend to be busier.

Distances
There are numerous towns and small villages a short drive away, one of the best being Peniscola. Peniscola has a wonderful monumental Arab-Medieval town centre dominated by the castle which is a short, but hilly, walk from the town. To get to the castle you have to take a steep walk up through the cobbled streets which have quaint gift shops to entice you in to buy their gifts. Aquarama Water Park Benicasim takes approximately 30 mins to reach. This very large water park is excellent fun.
Further details
The apartment is a short drive away from the marina where you can hire boats for fishing, sailing, jet skis and scuba-diving, and there are parking facilities there. The marina has a full range of amenities, a shopping area, ice-cream parlour, restaurants etc making it a very interesting place to visit. There is also an English pub called Cheers, which is the hub of the English community and which makes everyone welcome. Cheers make a wonderful full English breakfast, good old fashioned English fish and chips on a Friday and a roast dinner on Sunday, just in case you are missing English cooking. The other restaurants offer a vast range of culinary delights which must be tried. The area also offers golf courses, horse-riding and, for the more energetic, tennis courts. There are mountains to explore hiding a wealth of beauty, a natural bird sanctuary that you can visit complete with hides for viewing.
There are miles of beautiful sandy beaches in Alcossebre, with names of Carregador, La Romana, El Moro, L'Estany, Las Fuentes and the Port Marina, all have been awarded with the EEC Blue Flag award for cleanliness.
Restaurants and tapas bars abound on the sea front close to the marina, and the centre of Alcossebre are only a 10 minute walk away with restaurants ranging from typically Spanish to Chinese and English fare, which are all reasonably priced. All the food shops are filled with fresh produce daily.
Situated in the Costa del Azahar, which is midway between Barcelona and Valencia, Las Fuentes is adjacent to Alcossebre. This area is well renowned for its orange and almond groves. In January/February the almond trees come into blossom and in May its 'Orange Blossom Time'. To the north you will find the picturesque towns of Benicarlo, Peniscola, and Vinaros.
